Life is weirdly back to normal for me here in Bangkok—and it feels really good.
After my week of vacation on the island of Phuket in early February, I slipped back into my normal pre-pandemic routines upon my return to Bangkok. Seeing friends, normal 9-5 work days, being out in Bangkok for errands and little things. I’m even calling people I haven’t talked with in months.
The routine of “normal” has felt really good, and I slipped back into it really fast. It is hard to believe that I was gone for so long.
I call it “weirdly” back to normal, because really life hasn’t been normal for me since late 2020. Last year the pandemic hit Thailand hard, with isolation and things closed. Then I was traveling in the USA for six months. But now, aside from the occasional covid-related inconvenience, life is back to normal here in Thailand. We’ve reached the place of post-pandemic for the most part.
